Curiosity

What do you like most about yourself?
That I haven’t fully satisfied my curiosity yet.

How did you find newopticalillusions.com?
Looking for a place to share some illusions with other curious folks.

When did you make your first Illusion?
After I was introduced to Jerry Andrus I started making reproductions ofall of his illusions for The Amazing Meeting (TAM) convention.

What motivates you to create these illusions?
The reactions people have when they see what their human brain is capable of.

Please tell us a little about your latest project?
I recently obtained a pseudoscope. This is a really fun and mysterious optical device. Have you ever heard of the optical illusions it creates when we look through one? I’ve been designing objects to be viewed through the pseudoscope. All kinds of illusions occur. The strangest illusion I’ve ever seen happened with one of those objects.

How much time do you spend daily in creating Illusions?
It was an all day obsession at one time. Now, I manage to fit it in between a bunch of other random hobbies.

What would you say to others who are interested in making similar Illusions?
Look up the creations of Jerry Andrus. He was a genius. He made illusions out of things no one would consider – like old gears, fences, coat hangers…
