The Poggendorff Illusion

The Poggendorff Illusion was named after Poggendorff who discovered this illusion. In this illusion, a straight black and red line is obscured by a grey rectangle. The blue line appears to be a continuation of the black one where as actually it is the continuation of the red line.

Am I thick or something? The red line and the blue line are parallel, it’s the black line that is the continuation of the red line, or so it seems to me.
