Left Brain Right Brain – See What Works For You

If you see this lady turning in clockwise you are using your right brain. If you see it the other way, you are using left brain. Some people do see both ways, but most people see it only one way.

right-brain-left-brain-illusion

See if you can make her go one way and then the other by shifting the brain’s current.
BOTH DIRECTIONS CAN BE SEEN.

Experimentation has shown that the two different sides, or hemispheres of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking.

Most individuals have a distinct preference for one of these styles of thinking. Some, however, are more whole-brained and equally adept at both modes. In general, schools tend to favor left-brain modes of thinking, while downplaying the right-brain activities.

Left-brain scholastic subjects focus on logical thinking, analysis, and accuracy. Right-brained subjects, on the other hand, focus on aesthetics, feeling, and creativity..

We are thankful to Mr Jose for such a informational post.

    WHEN YOU”RE NOT LOOKING THE DIRECTION CHANGES!!! its true because I was staring at it, then at the same given moment as last time, its right leg was spinning. Then, it just suddenly switched to the left leg unexpectedly! And its animated, so it might be true.

    its like its automated to turn the other way? is this thing for real? anyone?

    nephut on May 23rd, 2009
  • 3

    @Putesca :
    It’s legit watch it in an application which only plays it back once it is a very short animation
    @nephut:
    No it’s not automated it is an optical illusion. Your brain secretly adjusts images based on its experiences with vertical and horizontal lines

    damn. that ones hard to beat. i saw it going counterclockwise when i first looked at it, and convinced myself its impossible to go the other way, then i somehow switched it, and it seems ilogical again. GAH.

    I can see both, by diverting my eyes away from the picture, to the left then to the right-one minute she’s pointing her right leg and going one way, the next its the left leg and going the other way! Fascinating! Also, have looked at it and for seconds its like she’s just swinging her leg from side to side-obviously my brain using both hemispheres.

    I can see her go both ways, at first it was clockwise but once you concentrate you can make her go either way at any time by will. I focus on the foot staying on the ground because it makes her look like she’s just swinging her leg back and forth.

    If you look long enough it will switch on its own and change direction. I checked three times, waiting as long as three minutes, but it does switch direction on its own. Maybe it’s been programmed to do this?

    i could see spinnning her legs in both directions and i could see her moving changing her leg(left while spinning in anticlockwise direction and right when spinning in clockwise direction).but i would like to know the making of the scene.

    Yup. Agree with a poster previously who said that the dolls is just swinging side to side. For me to change direction is quite easy. scroll down the page where only the feet are swinging. Concentrate on the middle foot and the heel. If you make try to make it CW then the rest of the body follows. If you try to make it go CCW the rest of the body will follow.

    I think that when your reading, you switch over to the left side of your brain, and when you look at the pic, you turn over to the right side cuz it has to do wiht creativity and all that good stuff. FYI: im only 11.

    ooo AWESOME!! its like my brain has secret powers!
    the trick is:
    you look at the words and at the corner of ur eye u look at the leg.
    pretend it’s not turning. like its only moving left, right,left, right. i it goes right look at the girl quickly and it’ll be moving clockwise. if left, counter then.
    its cooolll believe it!!

    Theresa on March 11th, 2010
  • 49

    I learned that when you think about a song or something it starts turning clockwise, but if you try to remember what you said and did all day it turns counter-clockwise! So it’s easy to change direction at will.

    It is easy to make it change directions. Look away from it. Then, imagine it turning in one direction with your eyes closed. Open your eyes and look to the side of it so it is in your peripheral vision. Then, look it at and it will be moving in the direction you imagined it. When I do this, I can make it change direction every time.

    i challenge you to stare at it and make it go CCW for 5 min w/o changing the rotation. be honest… if you did make it for the 5 min mark you’re a genius… it shows that the more you focus you’re electrical pulses within the part of the brain the more sharper you become… i did this but it gives me a major headache

    its manipulation of dimensions, the foot is not getting bigger when its in front, and not getting smaller when backward, so, the front view and the back view are the same, the rest of analysis can be derived from that.

    It might be true. Because when Im focusing my self on that image it turns counter clockwise but when I suddenly change my attention and look at the image again it turns clockwise. Thanks for the explanation.
    I can say I’am adept at using both analytical and aesthetic side of my brain. But my Analytical side is more prominent than my aesthetic
