Skull Illusion

Can you give more information about the illusion which is shown below? Some people just see the two children sitting with the dog in there but on a more closer look you can also see a skull

I love this illusion so much I got it tattooed on my arm. I first saw it on a metal tin from Halloweentown. No one seems to know where it came from. Maybe it’s in the public domain? I wish someone could find out who the original artist was.

The original of this is hanging in the children’s room at the home of Mark Twain in Connecticut. If you’re ever on the tour of this amazingly gorgeous house, they’ll point it out. If they don’t, you’ll find it just above and to the left of the fireplace in a little frame. It was meant to symbolize the end and beginning of life. Your tour guide could give more information about it.
